2024 Burn Morel Maps Gift Certificate

This holiday season, gift your favorite morel hunter with intel! The right burns are hard to locate. Yet it’s imperative to know where to go before you head out on a burn morel hunt. Each winter we spend many hours curating online burn maps for morel hunters in 11 Western states, sorting through fire data and removing many poor choices and also fires in areas that are inaccessible (or unlawful) for picking.

The maps show fires and their perimeters using a Google Map rendering engine. This includes a satellite basemap and a hybrid terrain basemap (topo + roads). We also offer USFS and Prediction Map overlays on most maps. We use the USFS especially for more accurate road information than Google.

Additionally, we choose up to 10 top picks in most states and provide details and hunting tips for each of these burns.

Our burn morels e-book is included with the maps and will teach you how to use the curated maps to locate ideal morel burn sites. The ebook provides an overview of elevation, forest types, accessibility, necessary permits, lands where you can and cannot hunt, natural indicators, portable technology and more.

Burn maps for the new year are typically completed in mid to late February.

It's somewhat tricky for us to add people to the system in advance, here's how it will work:

1. When you purchase this gift certificate, you (the gift giver) will get emailed a link to the PDF of the certificate that you can either print or forward by email to your giftee. The burn morels e-book will be included with the gift certificate PDF.

2. IMPORTANT: We will need the name and email of the gift recipient, this must be filled out in the shopping cart notes section at the time of purchase (if you forget, we will contact you).

3. We will add the gift recipients and provide them with access to the system. They will get an email with instructions to access the maps at this time. 

Your deliverable will be a PDF which includes the certificate and burn morel e-book that you then email to your burn morel hunter. The same instructions will be given to them in this document.
